Ms. Nicole Johns is a Scientist at Explico. As a Scientist, Ms. Johns conducts field investigations, research, literature reviews, and creates technical reports to support the biomechanics and human factors teams. Ms. Johns’ main expertise as a scientist involves analyzing occupant dynamics in various circumstances using multi-body model simulations. Her expertise also includes evaluating damage profiles of vehicles using advanced photogrammetry methods.

Ms. Johns earned her Master of Science in Movement and Science and her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. While in school, Ms. Johns participated in several research labs involved in human biomechanics and movement. She has specific experience with motion capture, subject data collection, and musculoskeletal simulations. Her educational experience included medical device design, where she designed a device to navigate a catheter in the gastrointestinal system.

Ms. Johns also takes pride in her outreach and mentorship opportunities in minority STEM programs. While in school, she served in leadership roles that allowed her to market and plan campus events for her student organizations and assist in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training for the College of Engineering. She assisted in planning several conferences including a convention where over 13,000 engineers and exhibitors from around the country traveled to Detroit to fellowship and learn about advancements in their fields.
