Dr. Bland’s expertise is in the forensic investigation of accidents and the traumatic injuries they produce. She holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University as well as a BS in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Dr. Bland has published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and has presented her work at scientific conferences around the world. Her graduate training was completed in the Center for Injury Biomechanics at Virginia Tech, where her research focused on reconstructing cyclist crashes and evaluating the efficacy of bicycle helmets in mitigating risk of traumatic brain injuries. Additionally, she investigated injuries stemming from various sport- and consumer product-related impacts using on-field and laboratory biomechanical techniques.
